Hello Monday...Heck, Yeah...It's Vegan...

Hello Monday...I am ready for this week...

Fortified and ready to take it on...

A good meal often does the trick.

Sometimes you gotta shake things up a little...

I was totally inspired by a recent photo shoot I did for Jo Packham and Where Women Cook at the home and kitchen of SHelly Kennedy of Drooz Studio...

I have been eating vegan for a few days...here and there across the past few weeks...a few days on a few days off...the ones that are vegan wow feel great! While I am not ready to give up my fish and meat...

with some good eats it's amazing how great I feel.

 

Totally delish...have made things like Shelly's curried chick pea salad (laoded with walnuts!) her beet hummus and some other recipes I found on Pinterest.

 Hello Shelly....you are amazing...so many talents, and great personal style. Thanks for opening your home to me...and ohh ahh thanks for the great lunch...

 Hello to great graphics and reading with whimsy.  Shelly's art adorns her walls...just love it!

Hello Monday...and hello 7 YEAR ITCH

...hello Monday...

I have to tell you all that I resisted Instagram for some time 

-- yet another piece of social media to keep track of ---

to post to...to feed...to mind...to cultivate.

 After all...I have been blogging for SEVEN YEARS. 

Gulp! 

That's a whole lotta me out there. 

Maybe too much...but still I BLOG, 2x a week like taking my vitamins. 

And I can't see giving it up...

It makes me feel good to be able to do it...

I feel good knowing there is some diary of my ups and downs and the business ins and outs...and I appreciate all of you that read me.

Still, sometimes I see social media like those pets that you really want in fiction, but don't want to care for long term....

or like  those houseplants that I know would liven thongs up around here, 

but I would have to water...all the time, forever....and ever...

So it was with resignation that I added Instagram to the whole feed thing...facebook, BLOG, twitter...

all of which by the way cross fertilize and post to each other....

But I #havetoconfess that #iheartinstagram...

And hello Monday this is a great way to get a quick visual image of what's going on...you can click the Instagram logo -- the boxy little camera logo --

So hello Monday...and hello Instagram. I like how you can search for # hashtags and how the images stay there as a permanent record -- 

just like I appreciate the BLOG for it's staying power and visual/textual documentation of my days...

HELLO MONDAY...time to realize it's ALMOST 2015!!!!! TIKES!!!!

 Hello Monday...while I am saying hello to the new week,

 I am also starting to think about the end of the year.

Hard to believe it's December and 

I am already working on 2015 plans and events....

When you run your own business, you wonder what works best to make your business a better one.

Which ads of mine work best and in which magazines...Where Women Create, PRIMS, Cottage & Bungalows, Romantic Homes...

Flea Market Decor... etc etc..???

 

Does the BLOG work?

Does social media work...Pinterest, Instagram, facebook, twitter...and so on...?

I do them all, and I wonder what "works best" among them.

How do I get the word out there on what's new and what's happening...

Sometimes you think none of this matters...sometimes you feel like it all does.

That said, it is a true treat when someone meets me out of context to my business world (Hi June Cole, Hi Allison Wells...) and when they ask what I do, or I give them my card and they say..."...wait a minute...I recognize that ad...or, "....I know your ads!"...well let me tell you. This keeps me going.

So Hello Monday.

...hello Monday....there's so much catching up around here after the show my head is spinning. But, let me pause a moment and say hello to you all...and share some nice news and good press!

I love that Jo Packham has allowed me to work on her magazines over the years. She featured me in her very first issue of Where Women Create, and since then I have been a contributing editor.

 Over the years she has allowed me to photo and write about some of my very favorite women...ones I admire...ones I work with...ones who inspire me everyday.

 

It was a real treat to photo and interview Nancy Wiley -- doll artist, author, and painter -- for the most recent/just released November 2014 issue...

 I have known Nancy a very long time, but it's only recently that we've been able to do business together...and it has been a good thing. 

So hello to sitting down with a cuppa and having a good read of this article...the above is just a peek...you can see the new issue for more...

Hello to working with friends, it presents its own set of challenges but it can be amazing!

I was fortunate to make to the annual convention of NATS!

You see, some of the circles I travel in are not always concentric to family, 

or kids, or my business. But for many years....

28 to be exact...I have collected Torquay pottery...

 I love the stuff...don't know what it is???

‘Torquay Pottery’ has become the generic term covering the numerous potteries that made Art Pottery and later souvenir/household pottery, from around 1860 until the late 20th century, mainly using local sources of red Devon clay. These potteries were based within about 5 miles of Torquay, in Devon, but also include a few other West Country potteries which copied the Torquay style. They were usually established by craftsmen who had learnt or practised their skills in Torquay.

That said hello to all the wonderful pottery friends I have collected over the years...the friends trump the pottery any day...
