Across my 25 years in the business of handmade, I've learned it's still a rare and beautiful thing to watch an artist work in their studio...

When someone works where they live, their space has an even deeper texture... another layer of living and collecting to absorb their 

inspiration and their aesthetic.

I was just in the home and studio of Emma Mierop of Skippy Cotton... we've begin to work together to present her machine embroidery creations to a wider audience...and it was a thrill to experience her style in action...

Rosanna De Bellis has her own magic...she knows how to celebrate everyday in the beauty she finds in small moments and in the handmade things she treasures....

I have known and admired her for so many years, it's my honor to call her my friend...but she's really more than that...she's a soul sister who shares so much of my journey with my family and my business...and shares her own...

I am grateful to know her everyday....

hello Monday...watching her paint...Laurie's newest studio and works for Fall 2013

hello Monday...you are a new week and I am ready for you...

I feel like the fall is already a work in progress...

I want to share a peek at something special....you see to me there is something so peaceful about watching an artist work.  To see their hands move to make what is in their mind is nothing short of a dreamy experience.

I have watched Laurie Meseroll paint many times, but this past weekend was my very favorite of those times.

She was ensconced in an airy space in Sharon Springs that Ben Ashby of FOLK Magazine had secured for her...as a special guest of the Sharon Springs Harvest Festival, Laurie was working along side her talented daughter Tatiana Tensen...there they painted and spent the weekend sharing what they do.

Sis Boom Visit

Some of you recognize the living room of my friend Jennifer Paganelli's home and studio...

she is the design genius behind Sis-Boom fabrics...

I adore her fab sense of style and loved the excuse of a trip to visit her in Wilton, CT needing to drop something off that I had been storing for her since we travelled together to the Country Living Fairs...(and yes, Jennifer will be there with us once again...)

Here's a peek in her showroom where she just finished her work on her next book...."HAPPY HOME"...this new book will be out May 1st and Jennifer will attend our annual "Spring Fling" as a special guest along with Jo Packham -- to promote this fab new publication...

Here's a peek at her daughter Katie's room -- can I go back in time and be a teenager and move in???!!!

Just look at the piles of lush magic in her studio...old wallpapers, paper and fabric and loot galore...boxes - bins - and odd piles of vintage lovelies...

And don't you wonder what she'll be up to with these piles of supplies in her sunny studio...

And here is George...Kathy wants to be President of the "George Fan Club"...
