HERS...girl power in decor!

...design with a feminine touch...you had me at hello!
Talented Jacqueline deMontravel...many of you know her as the Editor in Chief of "Romantic Homes" magazine...has just published a wonderful new book on decor...

My pal Donna Norris at Beckett Media sent it to me as a Christmas gift and I have loved every page...here's a peek.

Thanks to Donna for the utterly fab present -- I am addicted to the written word -- but must confess -- I love a book with pretty pictures most of all!
...put this fab decor book on your list. From fab glam to farmhouse funk -- Jacquie's got it covered with images, inspiring text and great tips.

Now I am off for a cuppa and some browsing to boost my creativity!

peek at my week - Insta Friday Link Up!

My oh my these weeks do roll on by...I am linking up to share the week in a few cell phone pictures... a virtual snapshot plus, if you will...

It seems that it really is Spring...
which is odd, because I cannot recall that we had winter here in NY...

The artists have flowers on their mind and in their hearts as well....
I adore the new work in form Laurie Meseroll...color, texture and style to boot!
...and Jennifer Lanne with her new "Sparkles & Tatters" series...

Rory has been particularly helpful, he seems to think the Easter Bunny operates on much the same principles as Santa...be good get toys = be good get Easter basket loot...you know there is a "naughty nice list" for chocolate....I am not going to burst his bubble anytime soon...

I had two lovely letters arrive this week and I still feel like a little kid when I get a real live letter in with all the jumble of bills and catalogs and assorted junk mail...Jody Battaglia has been playing on her own computer and sent off a wee little book of her critters with tips and noteworthy happy thoughts...love this Jody and you too...if you don't read Jody's BLOG -- you need to stop by FUNTOWN...
My gal gal pal -- I call Julia the Dog Whisperer of Ann Arbor since she runs In-Harmony Dog Training -- sent me a thank you for the fun time at our event in FL at the JT Folk Art Gallery, it was such a pretty card, I feel like I should send a "you're welcome" card right back to her!

It's the end of the first quarter of 2012...like how I organize before I file???

I was sick for a day with a stomach virus that my kiddos so lovingly shared...
I slept like a cat for a day...not feeling like that was a great way to get stuff done...no wonder cats don't rule the planet...
Tooth Fairy art in the hallway at another local grammar school...I was waiting for Aidan's basketball game to start...this was my fave...look at the tooth brush in one hand and the buck in another...looks like kids have gotten a raise for each tooth...

I have decided this is the ultimate outfit...
Krys Kirkpatrick, you've painted it, now can you stitch it up for me please???

Could these be cuter, it's mini me Harvest Moon critters...Val you slay me!
Your resident fan has nominated a favorite!

I am feeling like I need to get back to basics this week...it must be the change of seasons...
on that note I always like how Jill Schwartz' jewelry is made of these wonderful little baubles and stones and glass and beads...
fitting she calls them "Elements"...we shot gobs of her new line this week...

Catch you soon...I will be posting a few more times this week, there's lots a foot here at Earth
Angels...Hoping to share a peek at the new website in work soon!

And let me know....What made your week a good one?

...Lock, Stock & Iron...Lanne Love

There are innumerable talented and interesting people on the planet...

...but perhaps what makes someone truly exceptional, is their willingness to share what they know, to give away their knowledge with the sureness that in doing so, they become part of something greater than themselves...
Dick Lanne is one of the exceptional souls who gives freely...I adore and admire him for this...as well as for loving his wife painter, Jennifer Lanne as he does...

Dick is dedicated to the lost arts of backwoods survival, blacksmithing and the old ways of life. Since he shares all he knows...I have watched him work, utterly entranced, as he puts hammer to anvil, and tells his stories about how things were made, repaired and cherished for their usefulness...

I am totally thrilled and so appreciative that Ben Ashby, Editor in Chief of FOLK magazine asked me to write a feature on Dick...

...the current issue sports 6 pages...here's just a peek above...you real need this issue to take it all in..

Congrats Dick on the celebration of your style, your spirit and your knowledge...great knowing you...

xxoo Jen
PS if you need a copy of FOLK just holler, we have this and most of the back issues in stock...

insta friday - already!

...sharing the week via the INSTA FRIDAY LINK-UP! WEEK #8!!!
Some cell phone images that showcase my week..

....ummm.... like where did the week go...oh it went -- and took me with it -- back to FL this time for event for Earth Angels...yeah, I was just there 2 weeks ago!!! A whole lotta back and forth up and down this fine east coast, I'll say! Good thing I have those gypsy boots my Grandma Sullivan told me I was born with...

Here's a peek at the week...

Meet one of my fave residents of FL and gallery mascot...FRANKIE! He is one cool dude of a dog...WOOF!
Here are 3 of my favorite couples of all time -- married 50+, 30+ and 60+ years respectively and all are still in love -- Harriet & Marty - Patty & Tommy - and Rosie & Jim (my folks)...all came to the event...here they are on the bench outside the gallery...I loved looking out the windows to see them soaking up the sun...
And here is just one tiny part of the memory wall that serves as the gallery's facade....love the sentimentality of this community project....
And here is our fave place...a real live speakeasy, it's whereabouts I cannot divulge!
Here are some of my fave pics of artists and art from the show....Derby Blooms by Marie Pendley...
Jennifer Lanne...can you tell she is as fun as she is sweet...
and Laurie Meseroll's Mudcakes...
And Val...I want to commute with you every day...
Love all you girls...
.

Here's Rosie and Julia at the farmers' market early Saturday morning...
We took a walking tour and hit the park...
....but Melody drove! more time for shopping!!
Saw these pretty streets on my morning jog and came back later in the day with the real camera to get some shots for FOLK magazine...
.And -- perhaps even more importantly -- Himself got a new backpack...thanks Sue and Tessie!!!More soon on all this and such....
another week seems to already be underway!
