Fabric Marries Paper

Julie Arkell's work is as darling and compelling as the artist herself. Each creation launches story and memory in fabric and paper, with a sweetness that is true.

Her word brooches catapult me...

Here's Julie at our recent gallery event sporting layers of color and vintage garb. She is an absolute gem, and her renown as an artist, though well earned, is humbly acknowledged.

I am smitten with her work. She marries textiles and paper in an utterly fetching manner and style. Her pieces have a lightness, a sincerity and an honesty of spirit, as does the artist herself.

...doll brooches and people pins each have their own story...Julie brought this grouping to our recent event...some remain available.

Julie's work translates her personal style and capacity to pluck sentiment from memory, a wisp of fabric or a stitch...

Julie's book shows her work and studio and it explores her inspirations...we have 6 copies still available and thanks to Julie for bringing them!

Julie's sweet creatures speak volumes in texture and tone...I am thrilled to be her friend and to offer her work. We will miss you Julie until you visit us again next May.

xxoo Jen

I love Julie's wonderful work and am lucky enough to own some of her pieces and to have attended a workshop with her, and have often looked at her pieces on your website. I am enjoying your blog - and love your secret lab!
