Jax & Milk - aka Part 1- what's coming down the pike

Well lookie lookie...at what's coming this way...I recently walked much of the New York International Gift Show -- with special attention to the HANDMADE SHOWCASE and the ACCENT ON DESIGN sections of the show.....

I went to see some Earth Angels' artist friends who do the show -- Caramia of Hotcakes, Elaine of At-CHOO, Donya of Metal Monk --- and to be inspired by the new offerings of some of my fave designers and producers of artful goods for the home...and luxury treats for us girls.

Here's a peek at the Tokyo Milk booth...as ever I am smitten with their offerings and we're all restocked with their wonderful classic line, their sweet "Lollia" offerings, as well as their "dark" body luxuries and fragrances... all fit for the femme fetale in each of us...

...ahhh sweet Lollia...

...and the festive DARK line...

this hand creme is amazing...and the lip balms, addicting...
...sweet soaps too...
And here's a peek at the uber cutely packaged "jax & jacks" line of bottled magic...these will soon be posted to the site...curiously sweet earrings, necklaces and bracelets come tucked in wee bottles...at $15-$22 each they are an irresistible treat or party goodie...

Parts 2-4 of peeks at the gift fair coming soon!

insta FRIDAY - Blink!!!

That was one of the fastest weeks...EVER...Here's a peek at it...I am linking up with "Life Rearranged" to share my week via a few cell phone pics....

Kathy was here to help style and shoot the piece on my kitchen for the June issue of Where Women Cook...fun but the cake...well it was botched...
So we will be back at that tomorrow!!!

I love that zen moment in the day when I light the candle on my kitchen counter...this one is was made for me by my gal pal Michelle at The Blackberry Briar....love!
I love being green, we use all recycled shipping materials at Earth Angels, and that's a good thing...it also makes me the "freindly recycling center" for a few family members and neighbors!Jody makes me want to eat my veggies...and we are slowly, but surely re-photographing ALL of our in stock art for the re-launch of our website (stay tuned for news on that...)
The new Romantic Homes came out...there's 6 pages laden with Earth Angels style...ohhh ahhh...
I hit Ikea for a browse...why do lingonberries make everything taste better...Oh, how Swedish!
Little Blackie is coming around again...Charlotte adores this little stray and we are feeding her daily...
More cuffs arrived from Melody...total love...
Woo Hoo - the kids loved the game!
A rare, quiet moment...magic...
And everything is better with chocolate, even my dueling cups of tea and coffee...which should I drink...BOTH! And if you have not seen the "chocolate issue" you might need it...
...blink...blink! Where did that we go???

More soon

red is for hearts

It's February...Valentines and hearts abound...and Red tops my "Color Chart"!

Red, wonderful red.
Apples and barns and skies before storms. This is red. It has the taste of fall's harvest, the glint of Christmas, and the succulent warmth of summer's cherries. It emblazons each season with its hot brand.

It's cheery red toenails peeking from sandals and lips dressed for their evening out. It's every pair of shoes I've ever loved.

Red is bold in its hunger for acknowledgement, eager to prove, confident and decidedly happy about it. It makes people dance and others cower. It's vibrant, strong and brave. It is most welcome in my home and I dash it about almost recklessly among textures and patterns.

Ahhh, yummy red, brave red, intense red...it's pink's bossy big sister and everywhere in my home. Can you paint the town red? Do redheads have more fun (we'll need to ask Dawn about that!)? Do you love it? Does it have to be in small doses? Do tell the truth and shame that red devil!
How can I help myself from loving it and its hues, from tomato to wine and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates..
...think and dream in your colors!

=
Look, at Ro and red back in 2008, the color practically belongs to her in this image... do you remember this red letter day Robin and Heidi?
As a color-aholic, I wonder what does this addiction to red mean?
Think about color and its use and color trends from the 1950s through the present day. "Did your mother once cook on an avocado-colored stove?", "Did you embrace beige?", "Did you ever own neon colored socks to coordinate with your Madonna-esque rubber bracelets?"

OK READ ON IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEP INTO RED...

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) hosted a fab exhibit a few years ago; it explored artists' works and their color stories and how color entered the mainstream and impacted the new age of commercialism that was born with TV and weaned on POP culture, breakfast cereal, and the exploration of space.
"Midway through the twentieth century, long-held convictions regarding the spiritual truth or scientific validity of particular colors gave way to an excitement about color as a mass-produced and standardized commercial product."
The exhibit explored how some artists abandoned the use of developing their own pigments and reached for cans of pre-fab paint, and what resulted. Food for thought...

RED...

oohh laa laaa

I adore the coming of the spring season, and with it, the arrival of the annual "French Glamour" issue of Romantic Homes magazine. The March 2012 issue has just hit the news stands and with it, 6 pages on Earth Angels' style, art and decorating...WOO HOO...
Here's a peek at some other Easter decor shots...taking a look at these you'll see how they crop images and such to include in a article...it's fun to be a part of that editorial process...

These were taking in my dining room:

These were taken in the kitchen/deb where we have the big 10' table where we can all sit together for a meal...

Here's the spread in the magazine...
can you spot my very fave spring time treat...Jody Battaglia's woolen heirloom toys...

AND TOTAL WOW ...another feature includes Earth Angels artists too...so wonderful, the editors included so many Earth Angels goodies in their piece called "Gifts for the Francofile"...can you spot treasures from The Trophy Wife, Debrina Pratt and Tokyo Milk???
A heartfelt thanks to Jacqueline deMontravel and Meryl Schoenbaum for this honor...
You know I adore Romantic Homes, so it's a special treat to be included among the pages...
