confessing the Disney thing...

Ok so I am a little addicted to Disney...that is Disney World...having three little kids fuels this, as does having a 9 year old girl who has been various Disney princesses over the past few Halloweens (and other dress up days in between).

How can you not love Disney World...That's the place created by the man who said, "If you can dream it, you can do it."

Love that man Walt.

And so does this talented graphic designer...if you have not seen these images yet, please give them a browse (skip this post of Disney Princesses are not at all on your radar)

If you are on Pinterest you may have seen some of these amazing images...if not have fun and browse with the eyes of a little girl and be enchanted.

My own toast to 2012

Another new year is served up to me...I am grateful...so very grateful.
Let us toast...

...I am supremely confident that my life is a work in progress. This frees me from the hope of completing any of my “to-do” lists and entitles me to learn with gusto.

The idea of being perfectly incomplete gives me the excuse to just perhaps, try something new, mend a heart, change my mind, or make a friend. I remind myself that I am in dire need of patience, fortitude and strength, and that these attributes will never accumulate in quantities beyond what life might demand.

An so, the end of one year and the arrival of a new one is that firm and steady reminder of the march of time. And with it, the ceaselessness of the chores, responsibilities and the delightful diversions that accompany each day. A merry medley of “to-dos” and “atta-girls” coupled with the unexpected and the knowledge that contentment is a constant feast.

What a wonderful excuse, this change of the calendar, to pause and measure the blessings of my idiosyncratic life. Laden with people and places and burdened, as are we all, I adore the days and with them the memories of the time that has been, is and will be.

Yet, there is no heaviness of spirit as the clock winds down and then up with the charge of the months ahead. I am grateful that you are all within them.

And so I offer you this from a piece of my favorite Torquay pottery from Devon, “Long may you live, happy may you be, blessed with contentment and from misfortune free.”

Sláinte in Irish…or in English, Cheers! ...or Prost or or or...whatever you say that makes you pause in homage to the promise of this new year...

PS...you blog readers who follow me have seen this post before...it seems the year has melted away and I am forever in its debt for all that it brought to me. I feel as if my life is on fast forward and the rest of the world is on play somedays...but I take it all in stride and welcome the gift of the new year...

a wonderful little shop..."The Vintage Emporium"

On my recent, annual trip to Orange County, CA for our event, we were able to sneak in a few fun little jaunts...topping the list was our visit to "The Vintage Emporium" in Long Beach...

What a delight -- Julie's store is wonderful... (...for those of you that know "Rose Petal Porch" -- Joyce we found your twin sister -- separated at birth!!) This store has an uber cute vibe with oodles of vintage finds at fab prices -- I bought a cute table that I now have to get shipped -- silly me -- but I could not live without it!
Here I am with Julie... she is a delight!

And here's a peek at the shop...these images are a bit dark -- we were there in the evening -- so next time I need to be there during the day to get some brighter shots...

Here's Julie with Earth Angels' Marie Pendley of "Derby Blooms"...Marie lives in the area and she is a regular at the shop....thanks to Marie for sharing this local haunt!

Keep scrolling for my fave shots of the store and her displays...
Here's what Julie's website says about her shop:

The Vintage Emporium is a small gift shop located in the Historic California Heights area of Long Beach, California. It is filled with unique one of a kind vintage treasures, that show their years in style rather than wear. The quaint little shop is a cozy pocket filled with delightful things, from vintage linens, collectible pottery, shabby chic furnishings, and 50's purses and hats, to a fabulous array of funky costume jewelry. If you are looking for that perfect accent piece to finish off a room in your home, or a gift for someone special, the Vintage Emporium has something for everyone. Stop by soon and bring a friend!

Krys, Melody and Jennifer loved it all...

Here mascot!

Here are the details for the shop:

3423 Orange Avenue
Long Beach, CA
90807
(562) 988-8460

STORE HOURS

Sunday

If you are in the area, do NOT miss the chance to stop by and meet Julie and see her offerings...tell her I sent you and that I hope to be back soon with the girls -- we all loved your shop, you and your loot!

So glad we made time for the adventure!

a belated peek at our "Phyllisophical" event..

OOPS!!! Silly me I posted these images to facebook, but never BLOGGED on our fab jaunt to "Phyllisophical" in Tustin, CA where -- for the second year -- fashion diva, Phyllis Swanson, welcomed us to her glorious clothing store for our "heART of winter" - WEST event...

....and let me add a huge thanks to the artists who made the event... Debbee Thibault, Krys Kirkpatrick, Melody Doyel, Marie Pendley, and Jennifer Lanne...as well as our special guest, Jo Packham!

Here's a peek at some of my fave images from our event on 12/2 & 12/3 and the women who made it possible...

And here are my fave images of the store and the art on display...
