The long anticipated opening of The Hudson Mercantile is hear...my friend Stephanie Lloyd has worked her magic in this renovated 7,500 square foot space in Hudson, NY...and my oh my it will be worth the trip...

The NY Country Living Fair is THIS weekend...see you there!

Rhinebeck, NY setting up for our 

second big event in two weeks...

FOLK - The Vintage Issue is in!

...it's a mighty pretty issue laden with vintage finds and fancies...and I love every page. 

Congrats to my pal Editor in Chief, Ben Ashby on a truly stellar issue celebrating all the glories of vintage style.  And thanks too go to Ben for allowing me to share a peek at one of my favorite antiquing places on the planet...Hudson, NY.

 If you follow this blog, you know I am always running up there and coming back with a truckload of loot...I love the peek at my Hudson pals and great friends shared on the 7 pages Ben dedicated to the story...

Thanks to  designer Stephanie Lloyd, Jackie Flansburg-Diehl and her Mom Ida of "Ida's Eye" (the name changed from 711 since we went to press so look for "Ida's Eye" if you are prowling about Hudson) and Jocie Sinauer of Red Chair Antiques and the crew at the Hudson Supermarket for letting me click away....they have my fave shops in the town and are a must see if you can make it there.

 Thanks too go to my models Kathy, Ken, Able, Kitty and Chris...and a big thanks to painter Jennifer Lanne for sharing her friendships with this crew....

This antique Steif lion sits at the foot of my bed on an old trunk, it's one of my fave things I have ever gotten in Hudson and a great souvenir of a wonderful day (...on that same note...I cannot believe I missed that windmill Stephanie...you have to track me down another!)

And speaking of which Steph, Kathy, Jen and Ro, aren't we due for another trip soon???!!!

...friends and finds...

I am lucky to have a great group of gal pals who enjoy a jaunt around the shops in Hudson, NY every now and again...we love the excuse to get together and walking and browsing is just like a mini vacation...usually it's me and Kath (second from left)that head up to meet Jennifer Lanne and Stephanie Lloyd (far right)as soon as the kids get on the bus -- this time Anne (on far left all the way from Australia!!) and Ro (second from right) joined us...

We rove around and then race home ...though a long drive for a short prowl about, it is sweet...

Our meeting spot and first stop is The Hudson Supermarket...it's the retail locale for designer and visionary Stephanie Lloyd... she has an amazing style and well-tuned showcase of mercantile and industrial chic objects, as well as uber cool furniture offerings -- many of them the repurposed factory pieces that I love... (her hubby Ken works on these pieces and his talent is sure!)...

After a break for a quick bite we headed down the row of more than 65 antique shops.

Owner Jocie has a keen eye for great finds -- many from Sweden -- and unbelievably charming and well-curated displays...

I am already dreaming our our next girls day out...it will be several months but until then I will be thinking of my friends and our finds and the laughter we share...
