Yoo hoo to 100 Year Old Maker GRAM TESS and Skippy Doodle Designs...

Do you know these amazing women?
Here's Sue Parker and her
100 year old Grandma Tess --
her assistant
 at Skippy Doddle Designs!
They have a wonderful bond and share a love for making things....

Both agree, it's a fine thing to make something useful...
...and perhaps there's nothing finer than to find the humble worth in old bits and cast aside lovelies and make them anew...

Sue truly does just this with her
 Skippy Doodle Designs...
and yes, Gram keeps busy and useful herself by sitting with Sue, cutting, sewing a bit...

She loves how Sue collects so many little things and then celebrates them in her wondrous pin keeps, charming pin cushions and all sorts of notion-y fun...
and we do too!

Just take a peek at these latest arrivals and you'll see what I mean.
(...here's Gram working on sachets and pin keeps for the Nashville show...
you will see her work tagged GRAM 100)

I love that she is still sewing...
I love that she taught her granddaughter to sew so many years ago...

Sue makes things for fun, to bring her pieces, and to celebrate her love for re-purposing cast off things...

I hope you agree with me that her work is wonderfully sweet...Her Gram is proud of her and would tell you all herself if she met you!!!

Most of Sue's  pin keeps are $28 & $48 and come in two sizes... we've just loaded a wonderful new batch to the site...

And small pin cushions start at just a few dollars each...

Sue...I celebrate you and your style
...you know I admire you AND Gram!!!

SANDRA EVERTSON...event 4/23 at the Country Living Fair..."Relics & Artifacts" POW WOW

...this is a guest post from my friend, Sandra Evertson...

Ok, so I’ve realized something recently… I really do love what I do. I am totally, irreversibly, undeniably, hopelessly in love with the artistic life. Art is passion translated by creativity through many different mediums. Art speaks to us and feeds our souls. For me the entire process just makes me happy and feels so good. From the moment an idea pops into my head, to discovering an antique treasure that will be the birth of a new craft blank, to adding the finishing touches to a piece I’ve long thought about and desired to create.

I’m held captive until I come across the next oddment that speaks to me and tugs on my heartstrings. The best part, the part that connects you to kindred spirits who share an admiration of all things handmade and wonderful is finding your tribe. That group of people who understand you, who accept you, who love what you love….who just get it. No explanations necessary, now that really is pure bliss.

Jen O’Connor founder of Earth Angels Studios is a lover and great supporter of the handmade life. A chance encounter years ago brought us together while working on Jo Packham’s Where Women Create magazine. We’ve been friends for a long time. I am happy to announce a collaboration with Jen and Jo for Earth Angels Studios.

Jen will have my line of RELICS & ARTIFACTS® matte resin craft blanks along with some of my finished original pieces offered for sale at the upcoming Lebanon, Tennessee Country Living Fair. We would like to extend a special invitation to our Tribe members and all of you who create with RELICS & ARTIFACTS®
Come to our Pow Wow Show and Tell to share your creations with us in person. We’d love to see what you’ve been up to! There will also be a Giveaway held during the Pow Wow! It's a wonderful opportunity to meet Jo Packham in person, share your creations and studio stories with her!

Jen and Jo invite all retailers and makers to take an up close and personal look at the versatility of this innovative collection.

The R&A resin is unlike any other product, with an eggshell like finish that brings to mind tactile antique plasterwork. Just holding a piece in your hand ignites the imagination. Wholesale inquires welcome! Join us for a day of celebrating creativity, personal style and treasuring beauty.

THANKS SANDRA!  and cannot wait to do this with you and for you... xxoo Jen

swoon-worthy works from Angela Moulton had me at hello

....there are times that art stops you in your tracks.

 it was just that way...

FULL STOP AND WHO IS THIS...
THESE ARE INCREDIBLE...

and I am so totally thrilled to be working with her to bring you her art...

They are so heavily pigmented, so saturated with joyful color, so wonderfully unfettered...

I am completely captivated by them.
Angela works in oil paints on archival gessoed birch plywood panel and canvas...
And while her birds first caught my attention...
there is so much more to what she paints
...from cows and pigs....

to donuts and macaroons, and assorted sweets

...florals too...

her brush makes them fair play and her sense of color ensnares them...

Keep a keep eye on the site, these are posting to the site and going almost as quickly as they arrive...
This is just a peek at some current offerings and more are on the website

A huge thanks to Angela for sharing her style...
she deftly captures the textures and hues of her subjects adding more color to our world…
and I am grateful
xo Jen
