...another Boston Tea Party makes the press...

There’s nothing like sharing “good news”! 

And I have some wonderful news to share…

My much beloved Torquay pottery has just been celebrated with a feature in the February issue of Romantic Vintage magazine!  

 

What a great thing to get some new press on Torquay pottery in such a lovely publication...

How did it happen??? Well, last summer I made a visit to the home of my gal pal and fellow collector, Kathy Collins, who lives just outside Boston.  

We had a plan to shoot images of a tea party...

It was an exciting and very busy day, with a 4 hour drive up and back from NY with my 10 year old son, Rory, in tow.  We had a great time and all of us involved were excited to see what would become of the images of our tea party...

When I shared them with Editor-in-Chief, Meanie Hickman, of Romantic Vintage she immediately offered to include something in her magazine. The four-page feature AND the mention of “Torquay Pottery” on the cover far exceeded my expectations!  

 

 A big thanks to her for helping us celebrate the pottery, its history and what it can add to a room in style and display.

Hello Monday!!

'tis STILL the season...

and it's still 2013, so let me play catch up on a few things before the new year rolls in!

I love this time of year...I want it to last, to let the sweet moments linger. And the decorations all about me seem to hold those memories and moments close from year to year...

So...it's nice to see so many of my fave decorations in print...and the creations of some of my fave artists too! Thanks to Cottages & Bungalows for the feature in the December issue.

Cottages & Bungalows saluted the "Joy of Toys" with a peek at my fave tips and treats for decorating with beloved and handmade objects from Jody Battaglia, Nicol Sayre, Letty Worley, Debbee Thibault, Stacey Bear, Sue Parker, Pat Murphy, Pat Castka and Leslie McCabe...oh la la do these gals have a merry style worth noting!

perfect fall day

...it's the kind of crisp Fall day I want to cuddle up in the big arm chair at my gal pal Kathy's house...flip through a magazine, and drink tea and visit with her...

I love her family room. It has all the ingredients of handmade and vintage that I adore, and just enough whimsy to make it really her own.

I think I might grab one of her yummy soft blankets and really tuck in...

don't you love how she has them in the little metal doll bed...I do! 

As a matter of fact, I am thinking my cats would be in there in a New York minute if they saw this set up! 

(Cats are so smart, they never miss an opportunity to nap!)

But a nap is a pleasant fiction in my world! 

Just too much going in here to slow down...

But I need a break, so I am off to Kathy's once again for tea...

she always seems to be able to talk me through my big plans and provide the best of insights and suggestions....what are friends for after all...

We are hard at work here getting ready for the next event...we'll be heading to Atlanta next week for the annual Country Living Fair....

Suunybrae's in Victorian Homes...

It's almost surreal...here is my dear pal Kathy's home...

it is bright and glorious among the pages of the latest Fall issue of Victorian Homes...

It was fun to shoot and write this  3 page featurette on showcasing heirlooms and using them in entertaining. It gives a sweet peek into the parlor and dining room of  Kathy's wonderful home...and if you have a keen eye you will spot artful creations by Earth Angels' artists Letty Worley, Dara DiMagno, Jennifer Lanne and Debbee Thibault.

Kathy's style really deserves the attention. She is a collector and a curator of things that are sentimental, vintage and dear to her.

I love sitting on this couch in the sunny parlor of Sunnybrae...

Just look at these sweet vignettes... 

 She creates the most wonderful of arrangements with everyday things...

A big thanks to Editor in Chief, Hillary Black for allowing me to share these images of Kath's home with Victorian Homes readers...

tickled pink... Flea Market Decor

...I really am tickled pink with the latest issue of Flea Market Decor magazine...

Since 2008 I have been writing and photographing for magazines on a regularly basis... most times my efforts are under the wire...you'll see my photos but not know I took them...or perhaps you'll read a story and not know I write it...it's all been great and I have always been pleased to see my work in print...BUT I really was like little kid excited to see my writing and photos together with a by-line...

Thanks to the editors of Flea Market Decor -- Jacqueline deMontravel and Rebecca Ittner -- for the chance to share a very personal peek into my home...and for the opportunity to work with them on this feature.

 Can you spot all the Earth Angels artists' work Charlotte adores, admires and collects???

What a thrill for me to have been able to share a peek in my sons' room...

Earth Angels

chocolate in my kitchen...and me in Where Women Cook...

The new issue is in and I am proud to be included...thanks to my friend JO PACKHAM for the opportunity to welcome readers into my kitchen to share my style and love of all things chocolate.

 (I am pretty fond of polka dots too as some of you have noted...)

It's an 8 page article, but I cannot spill all the cocoa beans here...

As an editor of the magazine I need to tell you all to get out there and buy this issue!

...not just for a peek at my kitchen, but the many others of all those interesting gals included among the pages...including my pal Jaye McLaughlin of "The Life in Your Years Photography" and her Breezy Point beach kitchen in New York City...yes, I just used the words beach and New York City in the same sentence...(it was a fun shoot Jaye -- glad I could share a peek of your space and style too!)

So many shots never make it among the pages...but the story does let you have a super peek and I have to thank Melissa Cruz and Kathy Nuttall for their help on the shoot....
