AFTER - the secret is out

This is the "after" post I have been promising for some time...
...the after to the BEFORE POST on the creation of the Secret Lab.

I was tempted to prepare a post last week, but then we had the big event and gobs of new work arrived from the artists' studios. All of a sudden, the after looked like before all over again!

We're in the space just a few months, and I have already realized just how kinetic it is...the art arrives... the art goes. The "Lab", as my niece Loretta named it when it was built late last year, was created to house the work of Earth Angels artists and give me the opportunity to move the business completely from my home (well, almost completely...I am typing this in the kitchen...).
It's part wonderland, part studio, part storage, part playroom...

The stairs are my guest book with Sharpies at the ready...some just sign, others draw...I love this growing, and large scale, memento...

Here's Kathy on the stairs just after she "signed in"...

This "secretary desk" was my Grandmother's Sweet Sixteen gift in 1918, it was passed to me on mine in 1985. I love using this special family piece to add sentiment to the space...
A yard sale doll bed becomes a handy shelf!

Kim Stout's work took over this green table...I found it last summer with Stacey on our Annual Antiquing Adventure...

Dara's pieces display well on ironstone platters...

...I love the way the 3 Cheryl Kuhn clocks look lined up, but they won't be here long...this space will look different in just a few days...it;s ever changing as orders come in for art...

...the pitched roof does present a challenge, but makes the space cozy...
I am finally able to use all those fun props I have been buying up for years... I have horded doll furniture for so very long...
Pottery, jewelery, dolls, paintings and more follies nestle up to one another...I love all the red and green in this corner...

Here's my great gal pal Kathy, she made all of this possible. I drafted her into action when she generously offered help...how did I ever think I could get it done without her! THANKS to you Kath...

The canvases stacked at the ready to ship after the recent gallery event...

The old dolly clothes and c1940s tables clothes are strung over cubby storage and crawlspace...not the most functional but uber cute...and I was dying to hang my $1 clothesline and mini-clothespin sets from IKEA!

I really loved using available and long-collected treasures...

This candelabrum is one of my favorite props, it dresses up the space and adds texture.

Gobs of color and styles..I love to see it all together. It inspires and refreshes me in my work.
I am so grateful that we finally have this dedicated space. Thanks to all who have made it possible...Oh Ah, to the secret lab!

Mud-Cakes are Served

Oh happy day, a wonderful group of Mud-Cakes have arrived from Laurie Meseroll's Woodstock studio...

This grouping is absolutely outstanding and full of soft tones and and sentiments. In them she visits friendship, and a love and a longing for the sea.

Some of you know, Laurie's father is an accomplished chemist and she herself adores the science...
If she went to Hogwarts, surely she would earn high marks in any potions class. Of special note; these pieces are done with hand-mixed pigments and with handmade vinegar paints. Laurie's talents show in her grasp of color and texture which flourish in her mixed media creations.

Here's Laurie with Shannon...the start of summer means Laurie is in Woodstock full time, but it also means Shannon heads off to college. Oh dear! What will I do?!

These sweet and sentimental scenes send me. I am thrilled to bring you this collection of images...to see more, email me.
Enjoy your day

What's Next?

No schedule for adventure lays fallow here...
Yes, another event is already in the works! Thanks to our friends at "Country Living" magazine for the invitation to offer an
"Artists Showcase Tent" at their 2008 Fair.
We are working on the plans for 15 Earth Angels Artists to travel to Ohio in September to share their art with the anticipated 25,000+ attendees at this major national event.
Wow...this is shaping up to be another wonderful weekend to celebrate the art, craft, collecting, antiques and the more that we all love.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR...and keep an eye on the blog and your in-box for more details. I will keep you posted!

In the meantime, I will be on the prowl, my camera at the ready to share to comings and goings of the art and artists that make Earth Angels hum along...

A Ha! Dara DiMagno snapped me snapping! Little did she know that the chocolate brown Mini Clubman in the background (with red interior) is my current dream machine...

Break Out the Bunting

...Memorial Day has arrived and with it, the promise of summer at its heels. So, break out the bunting, plan the BBQ, and remember what the coming season and celebrating America is all about.

...pull together the red, white and blue.

...and with pride, cherish the memory of those who have given us our Country.

Enjoy this holiday weekend...and I offer a heartfelt thanks to all those who have made, and are making America my home sweet home.

...the tune has played

...a big sigh...the party is over...

...the gallery stands empty, the champagne glasses are finally clean, the hundreds of footprints on the lawn have been mowed away, and the glass glitter anchors and birdcages that swung from the tent poles are now tucked away for another celebration....

.
...but there are still so many more images to share...

The weekend is a happy memory...
I am thrilled that the remnants of the festivities are all about me. So much wonderful new artwork arrived and we've moved it all into the secret lab.
I will be sharing email images of the new creations soon, as well as posting on the "after" of the new studio space I've set up.

Until then enjoy!
