AFTER - the secret is out

This is the "after" post I have been promising for some time...
...the after to the BEFORE POST on the creation of the Secret Lab.

I was tempted to prepare a post last week, but then we had the big event and gobs of new work arrived from the artists' studios. All of a sudden, the after looked like before all over again!

We're in the space just a few months, and I have already realized just how kinetic it is...the art arrives... the art goes. The "Lab", as my niece Loretta named it when it was built late last year, was created to house the work of Earth Angels artists and give me the opportunity to move the business completely from my home (well, almost completely...I am typing this in the kitchen...).
It's part wonderland, part studio, part storage, part playroom...

The stairs are my guest book with Sharpies at the ready...some just sign, others draw...I love this growing, and large scale, memento...

Here's Kathy on the stairs just after she "signed in"...

This "secretary desk" was my Grandmother's Sweet Sixteen gift in 1918, it was passed to me on mine in 1985. I love using this special family piece to add sentiment to the space...
A yard sale doll bed becomes a handy shelf!

Kim Stout's work took over this green table...I found it last summer with Stacey on our Annual Antiquing Adventure...

Dara's pieces display well on ironstone platters...

...I love the way the 3 Cheryl Kuhn clocks look lined up, but they won't be here long...this space will look different in just a few days...it;s ever changing as orders come in for art...

...the pitched roof does present a challenge, but makes the space cozy...
I am finally able to use all those fun props I have been buying up for years... I have horded doll furniture for so very long...
Pottery, jewelery, dolls, paintings and more follies nestle up to one another...I love all the red and green in this corner...

Here's my great gal pal Kathy, she made all of this possible. I drafted her into action when she generously offered help...how did I ever think I could get it done without her! THANKS to you Kath...

The canvases stacked at the ready to ship after the recent gallery event...

The old dolly clothes and c1940s tables clothes are strung over cubby storage and crawlspace...not the most functional but uber cute...and I was dying to hang my $1 clothesline and mini-clothespin sets from IKEA!

I really loved using available and long-collected treasures...

This candelabrum is one of my favorite props, it dresses up the space and adds texture.

Gobs of color and styles..I love to see it all together. It inspires and refreshes me in my work.
I am so grateful that we finally have this dedicated space. Thanks to all who have made it possible...Oh Ah, to the secret lab!
xxoo Jen

Oh! I do believe in magic!! Having seen this magical place in person and swooning over all the delightful treasures it has to offer, I could live in this special place. My teddy bears are so lucky!!!! If only for a short while that they get to visit here before going on to their new loving homes. Oh lucky bears.

The photos do not do justice to the truly magical feeling you experience in the "lab". To see so many wonderful artists work in one space is really awe-inspiring.
