ok here she is...and had to wait to post these images until her tag came....

This is "Trixie"... my 1972 Chevy "Townsman" wagon...and no Tim, this does not mean I want to sell "Kermit"....

She has been getting driven daily and she will, at least until the snows come. Admittedly, she makes running the daily errands a slightly more festive event...and secondly, my minivan which has been tired for some time, is now experiencing major technical difficulties...but I'll save that unglamorous story for another time or venue...

I grew up with old cars all around -- some of you have experienced "The Obsolete Fleet" in action -- Trixie is just the newest member....

And yes, the Nixon bumper sticker is for real, but it is from the '68 campaign...it just looks good if not completely authentic in the time line...

I hosted and photographed a gluten-free gal pal luncheon at my home -- and the story of our celebration is in there with my recipes -- along with featured parties and more signature recipes of some pretty heavy hitting chefs and foodies including: Ree Drummond "The Pioneer Woman", Molly Wizenberg of "Orangette" and Bakerella!

I mean total wow factor on this juicy new entertaining and cook book...

Never Forget

...this is a re-posting of something I wrote several years ago...

Ten years...to those who are feeling the pain of the attacks of September 11th...you are in my thoughts...

...all gave some and some gave all...

...we are here and many are not...

Never Forget the patriot angels

and to count your blessings

I remember the pain and the fear

in my hometown and around the world that day. We huddled in silence for news, we waited for a call, if one could get through.

We had no news within the City...radio and tv transmissions stopped when the the second plane crashed. My sister-in-law Joanne had called when the first plane struck...and then screamed as she watched another hit and my tv went dead...a dull realization...this was an attack, the first plane was not an accident...Where were my husband, my brother, my niece, my friends?

time passes

I am ever thankful for my many blessings

and the beauty around me in this sweet land of liberty.

I am forever grateful that...my brother, a FDNY Captain was safe, that Ro got out of her building, that Thea was carried out of the subway...

that more didn't perish.

time passes

...and I continue to ask for peace for the families and loved ones of the FDNY and the NYPD....for the families and loved ones of my husband's colleagues at Cantor,

for my friend Jane who lost her husband,

and for those from New York City, those here in Warwick and beyond

who miss those they loved.

I still carry my World Trade Center ID. I had worked there so often when I was at the Brooklyn Chamber. I will never forget and,

I remain, humbled in gratitude for my freedom.

Pamela and Joyce took the Caldecott!

Did you know "Red Sings from Treetops..."

This book took a Caldecott Medal in January and I have been meaning to share the news of my friend's success for months...why ever do I ever postpone sharing such happy news...I cannot say I have been on the couch eating bon bons, but truly it has escaped me...but never to late to share good news they say...SOOOO

Congrats to Pam Zagarenski...for illustrating "Red Sings from treetops: A Year in Color"...

and to Joyce Sidman for her poetry, it speaks to my artful soul and lust for color and story.

I love that we have known Pam for 10 years and have watched her art grow in strength and style...We were among the first to buy her art when we wandered past a few of her paintings on display in a little shop on Mystic, CT called "WhyEverNot" (sorry no website to link too folks)... Pam works as a manager there and had painted a few pieces to hang in the window as a backdrop for a jewelry display... we were smitten and those paintings hang in our home among others we have been fortunate to buy from Pam over the years....

Just look at her work and fabulousness...

Here's what I see from where I sit right now...if you've read this fab book you'll recognize her wonderful hues and layers of color...If you have not read the book yet, drop everything (...don't even finsih reading this post...) and go find a copy...

Pamela your art is in my heart...so honored to have it in my home...

Also note...when you google around for this book at your fave on-line retailer...or better yet when you wander onto your fave local bookshop...Pamela and Joyce have done another book togeter... "This is Just to Say"...and Pamela has illustrated several others...

I love that "Liz Loves Vintage"...

Elizabeth Hanley is a spirited soul, she is kind and generous in her support of others' endeavors so it's time we give a shout out to this blogger as she launches her new Etsy page and biz..."Liv Loves Vintage"...

As a Facebook friend and fellow fan of the handmade and vintage life, I first met Liz at our Spring Soiree in May...here she is with our special guest, Jo Packham...

These images tell the story of her look...her loves and her personal style as a huntress of the old and the treasured...

I asked Liz to prepare a write up for me to post to the blog on her behalf...here's what she has to say about herself:

Dreaming "Vintageness" in the wee hours is not an uncommon practice for me.

When Jen told me she would like to feature me on her blog. I was so delighted

to share my story.

So here it begins...

One year ago a inspiring thing happened. One, menopause. I wasn't going to

write that. Now the word is out. Oh, well. Two, my Blog. Believe it or not, I am an awful writer...

I love to shop at the Flea. So, this concept of Liz loving Vintage came into fruition.

This gave me the inspiration I was longing for with an added zest to be creative.

Photography has opened the door once again. Now, I'm truly hooked.

I wear many hats. I'm a Mom, Homemaker, Wife, Advocate for Battered Women

and work a FT job with Special Needs Children. I was in desperate need of a hobby. It worked. A great stress reliever at that!

Doing what I love best and loving all things Vintage. I dreamed of opening a shop withmuch apprehension. Hubby was unemployed. It was long overdue.LizlovesVintage opened in May, 2011 on Etsy. Here I add a little bit of Vintage with a touch of Liz in each handpicked item for sale. I frequent fleas, estates of many and thrift to proclaim a job well done.Well never done. What fun would that be?

So, this is the ever so short Bio of me ( Elizabeth Hanley) My passion for everything old, unique and vintage.
