Event Site Ready!
How totally wonderful, Jo Packham and Nancy Soriano have launched their site for their artfully planned and long awaited event... THE CREATIVE CONNECTION.
This event is one not to be missed...and I am hoping many of you can be a part of it all...the event will gather women artists and entrepreneurs for 3 days in Minneapolis to learn from each other, create with each other and, dare we say -- have fun together!
Earth Angels' artists Laurie Meseroll, Jennifer Murphy, Pat Murphy, Dara DiMagno and Leslie McCabe will attend as teachers...others will come to join our booth as vendors in the Handmade Marketplace...I'll serve on a few panels...
This event promises to be utterly fantastic, and if there is anyway possible that you can be there, please consider noting the dates on your calendar. Registrations are available via the site for one or 3 day passes...and includes a bevy of workshops, seminars and perks...
Stay tuned for details, and in the meantime, please visit the site www.TheCreativeConnectionEvent.com to get on their e-mail announcements list to stay tuned...
Congrats to Nancy and Jo for the genius on their partnership on this event...I can hardly wait to be a part of it!

Cuteness Counts
Textile artist and illustrator Nicole Bowen has recalibrated the charts of cuteness with her latest batch of soft sculptures and jewelry...
Her work begins as illustrations...she is incessantly sketching in her books...Then, her characters come to life in wool, vintage and found fabrics, a myriad of old textiles and an odd array of trims and findings.
Here's a peek at her studio...many of you saw more of her workspace in Issue #4 of Where Women Create (the one with Mary Engelbreit on the cover...) It's a happy place chock full of her collected wonders and a cache of funky supplies.
It's there that she works to create the soft sculptures and jewelry she calls "Necessary Excess". These are some of her latest design...yes, they are cute to the max -- I especially love her new one of a kind illustrated necklaces...
Thanks as ever Nick, for allowing Earth Angels to be your exclusive retailer, and even more, many adventure-filled thanks for being my favorite travel gal pal and a great, true friend.

Nice to see it in print...
Back in 2007 I scouted Petaluma, CA for "Country Living" magazine with Earth Angels Laurie Meseroll, Nicole Bowen, Bonnie Taylor Talbot and Magda Trzaski in tow...fueled of course, by our mutually beloved "In-N-Out" burgers and animal fries...(see the post
Petalumahhhh and our follow-up trip in 2008...see the post Vintage Finds)
We had a great gal pal weekend planned around the fun event "Halloween & Vine" and the fall edition of Petaluma's "Antique Fair"...and we were able to check out some local fun spots and fab shops....
Check out this month's issue and the feature by Monica Willis to see how an initial scouting trip can get turned into a finished piece...
Girls, we really do need another excuse to get together. Where shall we go to next? I think I might hear an antiquing/junking jaunt calling us...remember we'd fantasized about re-visiting in the spring for the famous "Butter & Eggs" days Christy Silacci had told us all about...
Hmmm...let's go!

Her Valentine Donation...
My 7 year old daughter Charlotte cut her 11" ponytail to donate to Locks of Love today...It was her Valentine to another child in need. 80% of donors are kids hoping to help other kids.
Their mission as stated on their site:
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics.
Thanks to the gals at "Cut to the Chase Salon" here in Warwick, NY for their encouragement of this fab program.
And, thanks to you Charlotte. Your efforts are a reminder to us to always think of others...I am proud of you.

Her Sense of Humor...
In getting to know Deirdre Friebely's work, you get to know her. Her mixed media paintings are ever rimmed in good humor, and a cheerful -- but never unrealistic -- sense of all the sweetest parts of life.
Here are some of her latest works; they sing with the artist's own optimistic outlook. They are among my favorites she has done to date. See the lightness in her color palette, her fetching characters that hover in happy pause...
It's tough to choose a fave. Thanks Deirdre for this wonderful grouping of new works, and as ever I remain your friend and fan...

...and into the next room
Last week I took you on a tour of Earth Angels' artist and great gal pal, painter Stacey Bear's dining room...I confessed that it is perhaps one of my favorite rooms on the planet, much less in her house...
Well, her home holds many more wonders and I thought I would share some images of the living room that we see just beyond the hall in this image above...
...these stairs lead to her studio...
I made the day trip to York, PA to shoot Stacey's fab studio for the May issue of "Where Women Create" magazine. Stay tuned and we'll share some more on that adventure!
I will have to work on a studio sneak peek soon...

our "heART"...
The 3rd annual "heART of winter" was a fabulous gathering of art, and artful spirits. More than 500 enthusiasts, collectors and friends gathered for the festive weekend of art among vintage treasures. I am utterly thrilled so many of you could visit and share in the event...Artists Laurie Meseroll, Jennifer Lanne, Diana Card, Nicole Bowen, Jill Wiener and Dara DiMagno were in attendance...adding their style and savvy to the show.
Here are some fave images of their art on display...
Here are some of my fave images of the folks that made the weekend all that it was...
Thanks to all of our amazing friends and helpers who made a great event possible -- Denny, Robin, Sue, Kath, and Nic - what a team you are! Harold, Shannon, and Allie -- it would not have happened without you...Hannah, Ryan, Sophie and Henry...great to have your help and your support too!
And of course, a "heARTfelt" thanks to our FABULOUS hosts Carole and Arthur Johnson of the Warwick Antique Barn...I sure am hoping they will have us back soon. The backdrop of their barn and antique offerings were a lovely fit for the folk art.
Many thanks to those of you who shared in the event...
